British Swim School of Buffalo is hiring a dependable Swim Instructor for our Orchard Park location. This is an active, in-water teaching position working directly with children and young adults.
Previous swim-instruction experience is not required, but candidates must be comfortable and capable in the water. Prior recreational or competitive swimming, lifeguarding, coaching, or other aquatic experience is strongly preferred.
New instructors earn $18.00 per hour during training. After demonstrating readiness to independently teach and safely supervise classes, instructors advance to $20.00 per hour. Merit increases up to $21.00 per hour may be awarded based on performance, reliability, experience, and contribution to the team.
Training typically takes four to six weeks for candidates who complete online coursework promptly and attend at least two training shifts weekly.
Classes are offered Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Applicants must be able to commit to at least two recurring shifts per week.

• Currently enrolled in high school or possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

This is an active, safety-sensitive, in-water position. British Swim School is a survival-first swim school. Our mission is to ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer.
Working at British Swim School is more than just a job; it’s a chance to create a lasting impact that could change a child's life.
As part of the British Swim School Team, you play a role in your local community, empowering others and sharing your passion. It’s a chance to be part of a fun-loving team of dedicated people who are committed to promoting water safety and a lifelong love of the water.
While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary-aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.
We also have exciting opportunities with our Customer Service Team, even if you're not in the pool. These are the people committed to providing the best service in the industry. In these roles, you might talk to parents on the phone or by the pool. Wherever you are, the aim is to make everyone feel like part of the British Swim School Family as we focus on ensuring the “Survival of the Littlest.”
