Position Overview: The Aquatics Director oversees and manages the aquatic programs and operations of Small Fish Big Fish, a private swim school. This role involves coordinating and developing a comprehensive aquatic program, analyzing and creating budget and enrollment projections, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants, continuous managing and training of team members, and maintaining a high level of client/customer satisfaction.
The Aquatic Director plays a crucial role in promoting water safety, providing quality instruction, and creating a positive and enjoyable environment for swimmers of all ages.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Sports Science, Recreation Management) or equivalent experience (preferred)
- Current Lifeguard Instructor, WSI, and CPO/AFO certification. (required)
- Proven experience in aquatic program management, preferably in a swim school or similar educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, water safety, and teaching methodologies.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage staff and interact with participants of all ages.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate swim school activities and events.
- Proficiency in using relevant software applications for scheduling, record-keeping, and communication.
Program Development and Management
- Develop and implement a diverse range of aquatic programs, including swimming lessons, water fitness classes, lifeguard training, and special events.
- Create curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials that align with industry standards and meet the needs of various age groups and skill levels.
- Monitor program effectiveness, assess participant feedback, and make necessary adjustments to improve program quality.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to incorporate innovative techniques and approaches into the swim school's offerings.
Staff Management and Training
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of qualified aquatic leaders, aquatic educators, and support staff.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities, and ensure staff compliance with safety protocols and teaching standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among staff members.
- Perform regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and address any performance or behavior concerns.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Establish and enforce comprehensive safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and facility rules to ensure a safe and secure aquatic environment.
- Conduct regular inspections of the pool area, equipment, and facilities to identify and address any potential hazards or maintenance issues.
- Ensure all staff members are trained in water rescue techniques, CPR, and first aid, and maintain up-to-date certifications.
- Collaborate with relevant authorities and organizations to ensure compliance with local regulations and standards.
Customer Service and Relationship Management
- Provide excellent customer service to swimmers, parents, and guardians, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote the swim school's programs and services.
- Collaborate with marketing and communication teams to develop promotional materials, organize open house events, and implement marketing strategies to attract new customers.
Administrative Tasks
- Manage the swim school's budget, including financial planning, expenditure tracking, and revenue generation.
- Prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and analyze data related to program participation, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
- Assist in scheduling swim classes, instructor assignments, and pool usage to maximize efficiency and accommodate the needs of participants.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, trends, and advancements through professional development opportunities and networking.
Physical Demands
- Ability to Walk and Stand for long periods of time
- Ability to squat, bend, reach, and climb frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
Work Environment
- Work will be conducted primarily in water/swimming pool setting of the facility
- Due to water temperature, temperature may slightly fluctuate
- May occasionally walk on slippery surfaces, or surfaces covered with gymnastics equipment
- Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud

Compensation: $47,500.00 - $62,000.00 per year
