Summary

The Preschool Gymnastics Teacher is responsible for providing excellent developmental gymnastics instruction in a safe and fun environment. The Preschool Gymnastics Teacher participates in all aspects of our gymnastics programs and helps ensure that the gymnastics department is effectively carrying out our vision. The Preschool Gymnastics Teacher is responsible for providing lateral support to the program as needed and contributing through curriculum review and implementation, individual and collective student progress, student assessment, student recognition, communication with parents, choreography and the creation and teaching of new programs and class offerings as needed. The Preschool Gymnastics Teacher is expected to establish and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships and to forthrightly communicate with other departments, customers, and the owners. Most importantly, the Preschool Gymnastics Teacher is responsible for following practices that promote safety, quality, and professionalism. 

 
Required Qualifications

  •  Relevant preschool gymnastics experience and knowledge; 
  • Strong personal gymnastics skills and ability to demonstrate gymnastics technique; 
  • Excellent teaching skills and ability to achieve positive and measurable results in the gym; 
  • Optimistic and positive approach to the role and responsibilities of the Preschool Gymnastics Teacher; 
  • Ability to work happily and effectively with a diverse group of students and families;
  • Ability to influence peers and superiors in a positive way; 
  • Excellent cooperative nature and desire to facilitate managers' responsibilities including growth of the program, quality, scheduling, operations, budget, etc;
  • Superior interactive skills and experience working with children, parents and the public.  

 Desired Qualifications
  • 5 - 10 years participation in gymnastics as an athlete; 
  •  2 - 4 years experience teaching in a preschool gymnastics environment; 
  • 2 - 4 years experience or education lending to knowledge of early childhood physical, cognitive and social development. 
  • Relevant choreography experience with a wide spectrum of gymnastics activities and routines for teaching and for special events. 
  • Relevant experience participating and assisting in the planning special events including performance events, holiday events, student evaluations, gymnastics celebrations, etc. 
  • Current Pediatric CPR Certification; 
  • Current Pediatric First Aid Certification; 
  • 6 Early Childhood Education Units. 
 
Specific Job Duties
1. Wholeheartedly embrace and promote our company vision:

2. Actively research, study and learn job duties, employment policies, and the overall expectations of a Preschool Gymnastics Teacher:. 
  • Review and understand the Employee Handbook and successive editions and remain current in all employment expectations; 
  • Learn, study, train and become proficient in the skills required for each preschool gymnastics level, the progressions taught at each level, and how skills are taught and evaluated; 
  • Review and understand operational and administrative policies relative to the gymnastics program such as pricing, dates, special events, ancillary programs, advancements, etc; 
  •  Attend required training events; 
  • Enthusiastically assist and cooperate in ensuring all classes are adequately covered by substituting when called upon; 
 3. Teach Gymnastics Classes: 
  • Enthusiastically assimilate and teach the Sweet Pea curriculum incorporating skills to be mastered, weekly goals and objectives leading to the mastery of the required skills, and to facilitate learning and enjoyment; 
  • Competently learn, study, train and become proficient in the skills required for each level, the progressions taught at each level, and skills necessary for all classes within the gymnastics program; 
  •  Regularly and consistently teach classes as assigned, understanding the importance of consistency in the learning environment and recognizing that our program has high expectations/strict limitations with respect to employee absences and punctuality; 
4. Provide for the growth and development of each Sweet Pea student: 
  • Regularly communicate learning objectives to parents through oral communications, written evaluations, personal emails, parent meetings, regularly scheduled emails, bulletin board, handouts, etc; 
  • Effectively conduct written athlete/gymnast evaluations for each student - in a timely, accurate and detailed manner; 
  • Assist in ensuring that Sweet Peas are successfully recognized and joyfully promoted pursuant to the evaluations and certificates and assist in coordinating the promotions; 
  • Personally facilitate athlete/gymnast recognition including direct personal recognition, recognition to parent, certificates, evaluations, promotions, tangible rewards (stickers, stamps) etc; 
5. Support and participate in facility special events:
  • Participate in the planning, promoting, teaching/staffing and overall success of special events (competitions, shows, exhibitions, holiday events, community events, camps, fairs, school events, field trips, etc.) 
6. Assist your manager/supervisor in meeting the goals and vision of the department:
  • Attend department and gym-wide meetings; 
  • Read department and inter-department written communications; 
  • Be attentive and responsive to department and gym wide announcements, calendar items, and upcoming events; 
  • Do not call in sick, arrive late, or otherwise let your manager down with respect to teaching your classes; 
  • Be flexible with your scheduling and teach classes as requested and substitute for others when called upon; 
7. Exemplify integrity and character:
  • Conduct yourself so that supervisors, co-workers, students and parents can always rely on your word; 
  • Be honest, truthful and accountable in your work and relationships; 
  • Work hard; 
  • Be thoughtful towards others in your actions, direct and indirect communications, and outlook. 
Compensation: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
