About the Role:

Join the Childhood Drowning Prevention Foundation as a Swim Instructor and play a vital role in teaching children essential skills that can help save their lives in a water emergency! In this rewarding position, you will help foster a safe and enjoyable learning environment for young swimmers in the Inland Empire.

Responsibilities:

Teach swim lessons tailored to water safety for children of various ages and skill levels.
Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to individual student needs and progress.
Monitor and assess students' performance, providing constructive feedback.
Ensure a safe and positive environment by enforcing pool rules and safety protocols.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area and equipment.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Promote the foundation’s mission and initiatives during lessons and community events.

Requirements:

Current BLS Certification (CPR/First Aid/AED Certification) required.
Previous experience as a swim instructor or lifeguard preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children and parents.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Passion for teaching and a commitment to child safety.
Ability to demonstrate swimming techniques clearly and effectively.
Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Background check clearance required prior to employment.

Compensation: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour

After our swim instructor trainees finish their onboarding and video training (roughly 14-16 hrs), they move on to in-water training for approximately 2-3 weeks. The in-water training schedule is as follows:  Tuesdays 12:15 pm-8:30 pm (Riverside)  Wednesdays 12:45 pm-5 pm (Riverside)  Thursdays 8 am- 4 pm (Norco)  Fridays 12:45 pm-8:30 pm (Riverside)  Saturdays 7:15 am-2:10 pm (Norco) Are you able to commit to the onboarding/video training and in water training schedule?*

We are looking for individuals who can maintain a regular schedule at either location once you complete training.  Are you able to work at either location after you’ve completed training?*

We conduct mandatory monthly Team Meetings on the second Thursday of every month from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Will you commit to attending every meeting?*

This position requires a high level of reliability, especially during the first year of employment. Are you able to commit to NOT taking time off (vacation or personal leave) during your first 12 months?*

When working on scheduling a new instructor, sometimes we have to build schedules from scratch.  Are you ok with starting with minimal hours and then building upon that once you are done training?*

All new hires must be available for a minimum of 1 On-Call day per week. I.e.- You will be ready to come into work at any time on your On-Call day if needed, especially if there is an emergency, someone calls out sick, or someone is going on vacation. Is this something you agree to have?*
